A little about me
I was fortunate to have grown up on a large property, with endless opportunity to immerse myself in all of nature’s bounty. I’m a gardener at heart and have had my hands in the soil, from the moment I learnt to crawl.
My passion for design started in earnest following a course led by Landscape Architect, Johan Hosten, in South Africa in 1986.
Having managed the Landscape and Design interests of a local plant nursery, I subsequently launched an independent garden and landscape design service.
My initial design course, together with several short courses run by The English Gardening School in Chelsea, a Project Management qualification obtained through the Association for Project Management, as well as a qualification in Garden Design and Plantsmanship, have stood me in good stead, not to mention more than 30 years’ experience in horticulture.
Up until the end of 2009 I consulted, as Head Gardener, to the Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA) in Burchetts Green near Maidenhead; as well as assisting with their show gardens at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2007 and with the design, project management & implementation in 2008 & 2009, with Silver-Gilt Medals having been obtained each year.
I have to date been involved with eleven RHS Show Gardens (both at Chelsea and Hampton Court). The British Heather Growers’ Association (BHGA) garden at Hampton Court in 2011 obtained Gold, Best in Category and Most Creative in Show. My contract for the project was to specify, source and plant the entire garden to complement Heathers provided by members of the BHGA. I was instrumental in the plant selection and layout for Hugo Bugg’s Royal Bank of Canada, Waterscape Garden at RHS Chelsea in 2014. The garden was awarded Gold.
